Identities are multiple. Identities are complex. And while we often are asked to check off the boxes that define us, identity is not easily caged.
QueerZineLit challenges the status quo notion that we must assimilate to succeed. At the same time, QZL recognizes inevitable overlap between communities. The key is to examine what privilege we possess and discover ways we can become allies for each other.
Join us as QueerZineLit publishes new Manifestos and Graffiti that illustrate the tapestry of our lives. Check out Fusion, a non-exhaustive reference list of organizations that foster connections between marginalized communities.
Lastly, take action. Tell us what you think, by commenting on the Web page, sending an e-mail or a letter. Consider submitting artwork for Graffiti, writing an essay for Manifestos or sending in poetry or fiction for Free Verse. Volunteer. Step outside of your box.
Identities do not ultimately define who we are. That power still remains in our own hands. So join hands with your brothers and sisters and discover how we can become allies in celebration of our differences.
